About Me

I have been a nurse therapist for 25 years.  Before I became a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric Nursing I was a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner.  I believe that my nursing education and experience is an essential part of being able to treat the whole person.

I graduated with a Masters Degree in Nursing in 1987 from the University of Virginia. I am licensed to practice as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the state of Virginia by the Virginia Board of Health Professions. I am credentialed as a CNS by the American Nurses Credentialling Center.

I worked in medical and psychiatric hospitals before I started a private practice. My expertise is in treating adults with problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma, pain, loss and eating disorders. I am passionate about therapy. I seek out opportunities to learn and to grow as a therapist. I view therapy as a partnership with both of us working as hard as we can toward your goals.

I specialize in individual therapy. I refer to other therapists who specialize in the areas of substance abuse, couples therapy and therapy for children and teens. I refer to psychiatrists for medication evaluations.
